Wasserstoff in der Binnenschifffahrt kann in verschiedenen Formen und Speichervarianten eingesetzt werden. Aus heutiger Sicht bietet gasförmiger Wasserstoff in Wechselcontainern die besten Voraussetzungen, kurzfristig genutzt zu werden und gleichzeitig die Chance, die benötigte Infrastruktur bereitzustellen, um das Bunkern mit vorhandenen technischen Mitteln durchzuführen. Der Umgang mit Containern ist in der Logistik bewährt. Entsprechende Wasserstoffspeichercontainer mit Drücken bis zu 500 bar sind am Markt verfügbar und werden schon genutzt.
